No, a biodiesel blend does not require any new equipment, but it is advised to perform a complete tank cleaning prior to the use of biofuels and to replace the oil furnace filter. It is also recommended to check with the boiler manufacturer to ensure the warranty will not be violated by the use of biofuels.
Yes, you will pay more, but these heating fuels burn cleaner, which means they will require less maintenance and less product burned, potentially offsetting some additional casts per gallon.
Yes, Biodiesel fuel comes in a variety of blends. Common blends include B2 which is 2% biodiesel, and B5 which is 5% biodiesel. Sel-Lo Oil will start out marketing B5 biofuel.
First you must have your tank as empty as possible. Then a cleaning system using pressurized water and a suction unit to spray throughout the inside of the tank. Sel-Lo Oil's bottom line recommendation for the use of BIO Heat is that the technology has advanced to a point that the quality of fuel is up to standards and its cleaner burning qualities add value. But it is our belief that older heating equipment may not hold up to the change in fuel as well as newer equipment. In particular the tank cleaning process is really invasive and works best if the tank has no signs of corrosion.

This program is used by our drivers to reassure them that they are at the correct location. We have intentionally avoided using sensitive information, but if a tag on your tank makes you uncomfortable, then please alert our office. We will then discontinue tagging your oil tank.
