History of Quality Service

Sel-Lo Oil had a very modest beginning. Buying two trucks that weren't exactly new, we relied heavily on our maintenance crew. The trucks had gasoline engines and two compartment steel tanks which made them out dated even in 1988. Although trucks are necessary, people make service, and Sel-Lo Oil has been fortunate to have June Smith (pictured on homepage) anchor the office staff from the start. So it was then time for one of our key acquisitions. We needed a reliable delivery man and that is when we hired Curt Adams. For the first 12 years he was the single, most identified figure for Sel-Lo Oil.

Sel-Lo Oil's association with W.C. Klines, Inc., a long time trucking company that had many ties with petroleum suppliers and vendors, helped it gain respect in our industry. At the start, Sel-Lo Oil had access to one supplier, but through the years we have expanded our options to include several major brands like Gulf, Mobil, and Texaco to name a few. These connections have given us more opportunity to sell quality products at the best price.

Sel-Lo Oil's territory began with the communities of Altoona, Hollidaysburg, and Duncansville. With the addition of more delivery men and better trucks, it grew to include some communities that are current day main stays like Williamsburg, Roaring Spring, Martinsburg, Tyrone, Gallitzin, Cresson, Ashville, East Freedom, and Claysburg to name a few.
